The Department of Elections just completed another day of counting votes and Ross Mirkarimi has been elected San Francisco Sheriff. Although it is not the result we wanted, I am so proud of the campaign we ran – and incredibly grateful to our amazing supporters.
We may have to wait for all the votes to be counted, but there's no time like now to say THANK YOU to San Francisco voters and the volunteers, donors and supporters who worked so hard on this campaign.

The San Francisco Examiner endorses Chris Cunnie for Sheriff, calling Chris "a seasoned veteran of the The City's streets" and the only candidate who "understands the necessary balancing act that is going to be required in the state’s revolving criminal justice system."
The San Francisco Chronicle writes today about the beginning of realignment - the process by which the responsibility for thousands of nonviolent or non-sex offenders will shift from the state prison system to local county jails.
